The Lord your God will fight for you….

strength
One of satan’s favorite tricks it to make us think that all is hopeless….he deceives us into thinking that our situation, our circumstances or our condition is bleak or impossible. It can leave us feeling miserable, despondent and depressed.

This morning I was struggling with exactly this…it felt as if I alone in facing many things in my life right. And all I could do was to go before the Lord with those candid, honest prayers…crying out to Him, being honest with my words and with my tears.

After the tears were spent I came across this verse in Deuteronomy 20:4 (NLT) that said; “For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!!

This verse was about the Israelites; God had rescued them and brought them out of slavery in Egypt. But it wasn’t very long before they found themselves at shore of the Red Sea. Here they stood, God’s chosen and rescued people, with the Red Sea on one side and their enemies charging on the other side. They were caught in the middle and their situation appeared hopeless. They questioned God wondering why they had been set free only now to die at the hand of their Egyptian enemies….I am sure they felt abandoned and defeated, their situation hopeless.

Yet, it was their hopeless situation that God used to destroy their enemies once and for all. That very sea of hopelessness gave God another opportunity to demonstrate His power. God parted the Red Sea and the Israelites walked on dry land to the other side-to their freedom…. and once on the opposite side of the Red Sea they turned and watched God close the waters annihilating the Egyptians right before their eyes.

It’s been said that many times life’s greatest trials give us greater freedom….the Israelites didn’t have to do anything to see their victory except walk to their freedom through the open door that God made available.

Friends, God wants to carry you into victory and triumph. He has an open door for you, for me….I know what it feels like to believe that your situation is hopeless…but I believe & trust that God has great things in store for you….for me….we need only to walk in faith.

…and this one thing I know- He is God and I am not!!

Zechariah 4:6 says; “I am the Lord All-Powerful. So don’t depend on you own power or strength, but on my Spirit.”

Father God, open our eyes and heart to the freedom You have for us….let us see that it is a gift, a special treasure that we will receive as we learn to let go of our anxious thoughts, our guilt, our shame and whatever else it may be that keeps us from fully experiencing & trusting You Father…. This day we claim victory in the name of Jesus….lead us and deliver us through our sea of hopelessness and despair…….. set us free, enable us to walk in the victory that Jesus has purchased for us…. enable us to walk trusting in You, prove Your power Lord through us as we commit these coming days, weeks and months to You God….lead us in complete freedom. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen

Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:1 (NLT)
